ULTRA WILL GO ON!
A decision has been made by the City of Miami to continue hosting ULTRA MIAMI!!!! We are very excited about this news and wanted to share the exact released infromation. You can read the official news below:
“We are pleased with today’s decision by the City of Miami Commission to continue our long-standing tradition of producing the Ultra Music Festival in downtown Miami. We are also extremely happy for our fans from around the world who love coming to Miami to be part of Ultra. The setting for the event in downtown Miami is part of what makes the event magical. We appreciate the commission for their vote today.
We will continue to work closely with the City of Miami, the Bayfront Park Management Trust, City of Miami Police Department and other municipal partners, small business owners and the local downtown community to ensure next year’s event is a safe and fun environment for concertgoers and Miami residents. We are pleased to continue our ongoing practice of assessing and implementing improved security measures as well as any recommendations from our ongoing security review being led by our new Director of Security, Police Chief Ray Martinez.
As a Miami-based company, creating jobs and attracting tourism to South Florida, we are privileged to create over 1,800 direct jobs in our community and bring over $80 million in economic impact to our local economy. We are optimistic about the future and creating more opportunities to grow and strengthen Miami for all.”
No more Ultra? – Ultra 2014 News
“I think we should NOT have Ultra next year here,” Regalado told the Miami Herald on Saturday. “This incident should never have happened.”
Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado has told multiple media sources that he no longer wants to have Ultra Music Festival in Miami after this years incident.
Erica Mack, a security guard at Ultra Music Festival, remains hospitalized after getting trampled by a crowd of people trying to enter the fest without paying (jumping the fence). Although jumping the fence happens at a lot of events, this time the incident could have been fatal. Erica Mack suffered severe brain hemorrhaging, was seen to be bleeding out of her ears at the scene, and has a broken leg. We must say that we are very dissapointed and hope that Erica Mack has a speedy recovery. Because of those people who thought they could get into the festival without paying, we might no longer have Ultra. Was it worth it?? I dont think so. The scene is not about hurting others and jumping fences. If you think this kind of behavior is acceptable, you might want to change your taste in music. You can read more about this HERE.
Heres a picture of some more of the craziness at Ultra 2014. This is really giving the EDM scene a bad reputation.
