For some of you, Summer Camp may have been your first festival of the year. And what a great start to festival season is was. This year was my first Summer Camp and now I can see why I’ll definitely be returning next year. If you’re more into the “hippie vibe” instead of the usual rave crowd, then you’ll fall in love with the atmosphere at Scamp. Located in Chillicothe, IL, the festival is surrounded by luscious green trees and good vibes. Once inside, you start to see where some of the camping takes place inside of the forest. More towards the ferris wheel and rides is where you can find the rest of the camping grounds. I’m glad I was lucky enough to camp in the forest part to shade us from the hot sun all weekend. Also, the forest is full of hammocks, lights, and art. If I wasn’t out listening to the music, I was wandering around in the forest talking to people and getting my face painted. 🙂

Some of the big name artists playing this year were moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Krewella, STS9, Griz. My favorite sets had to be EOTO, Cherub, Big Gigantic, Tchami, Kill The Noise, Snails, Klingande. I cannot put into words how unreal Griz’s set was on the last day, for anyone who was there, I’m sure can relate. Although it was raining, it was the perfect touch Griz’s set needed to be unforgettable. The rain coming down through the lazers and lights made it look like there was glitter falling from the sky along with Griz throwing down a dirty set, it put me at a natural high.

Aside from this festival bringing some of the nicest/most laid back people I have ever met, I’m overall very pleased with the festival itself. Good amount of vendors scattered around so that I didn’t feel like I was walking around everywhere trying to find food/merch. I felt like I was in a safe place. Summer Camp was much more than I expected. It was hard for me at times to stop and take it all in because of how much fun I was having, and when I was, I was surrounded by nothing but good energy and would just smile.

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR SCAMPERS!
