Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) is thrilled to release the full 2017 lineup, including artists playing on each of the six Branded Stages, the day-by-day breakdown and a limited supply of single day tickets! Over 80 artists will perform across five unique stages, demonstrating a dynamic variety of genres within the electronic music spectrum.
React’s highly coveted Trance Arena series returns to this year’s Spring Awakening with a special showcase of melodic thrills and euphoric melodies dedicated to the veteran stage. Leading the pack is Grammy Award-Winning DJ, producer and musician, Paul van Dyk. The legend was ranked as the World’s No. 1 DJ two years in a row (in 2005 & 2006), and now over 10 years later, with nearly three decades under his belt, PvD continues to dominate the electronic scene around the globe.
Sunday School, the longstanding series known for its defining takeovers at events like Mysteryland and Electric Zoo, will be curating its own lineup of diverse talent during this year’s Spring Awakening, providing the “festival within a festival” atmosphere that’s made it famous. Headlining the action will be famed North London duo Gorgon City, as they return to Chicago for a raucous set atop the Sunday School Stage decks.
Having attended all 5 Spring Awakening Music Festivals, I can honestly say it has been exciting to see the festival grow from its infancy, to what is now THE EDM festival to attend in Chicago. React Presents’ other festivals may have been around longer, or shorter, but none offer more in terms of EDM than Spring Awakening. A quick search of the hashtag #SAMF16 on Instagram solidifies this claim, as people from all parts of the US attended this year’s festival.
It seems that most large EDM style festivals in Chicago have to deal with politics and neighborhood drama. Spring Awakening was no different, with its several location changes. Instead of focusing on this year’s challenges let me roll right into why this year’s festival was bigger, better and more organized.
